Rationale
Children living in urban slum environments are often exposed to conditions that increase their risk of oral diseases, including limited access to healthcare services, inadequate awareness, and poor oral hygiene practices. Addressing these disparities requires targeted, compassionate, and community-based interventions. The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, conducted an Oral Health Screening, Education, and Prevention Camp on 18 April 2026 at Siddharth Colony, Kurla/Chembur.
Objectives
- To provide oral health screening services for children in underserved communities
- To promote preventive oral hygiene practices through education and demonstration
- To encourage early adoption of healthy oral habits
- To facilitate early detection of dental conditions
- To deliver care through a compassion-driven, community-oriented approach
Target Population
- Children residing in urban slum areas
- Underserved and high-risk pediatric population
Core Activities Conducted
