Geriatric oral health is an emerging public health concern, as aging populations face a higher risk of dental diseases, tooth loss, and oral infections, which can significantly impact their overall health and quality of life. Poor oral health in older adults is linked to systemic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory infections, making it a crucial area for public health intervention.
Regional Resource Training Centre for Elderly: Awareness lecture to Senior citizens, Vadukuppam on February 21 , was organised by Help age India in association with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The geriatric patients were given awareness on 1. Oral care
2. Nutrition and health
3. Age related problems and management .
The participants were Elders Self help group members of Vaduvakuppam, Pandasozhanallur and Kalmandapam, rural areas of Puducherry. Nearly 72 participated and benefited.
By prioritizing geriatric oral health, we can help prevent pain, enhance nutrition, and promote overall well-being in aging populations, ensuring that they maintain healthy smiles and a better quality of life in their later years.
