A comprehensive one-month community outreach campaign was successfully conducted by the Mobile Dental Unit across various Primary Health Centres ,community health centres and sub centres in the state. The initiative aimed to improve access to oral healthcare services, especially among underserved and rural populations, while also promoting awareness about the importance of oral hygiene.
The Mobile Dental Unit visited multiple centres on a rotational basis, ensuring wide geographic coverage and reaching diverse population groups including children, pregnant women, elderly individuals, and daily wage workers. Each visit was systematically planned in coordination with local healthcare staff to maximize participation and service delivery.
Key activities undertaken during the campaign included:
Oral health screening: Early detection of dental caries, periodontal diseases, oral lesions, and other conditions.
Basic dental treatments: Procedures such as scaling, restorations, extractions, and emergency care were provided on-site.
Health education sessions: Interactive awareness programs were conducted focusing on proper brushing techniques, dietary counseling, tobacco cessation
Referral servicess: Patients requiring advanced or specialized treatments were referred to higher dental care centers.
The campaign significantly contributed to identifying unmet dental needs and reducing the burden of untreated oral diseases. It also strengthened the integration of oral health within primary healthcare services and encouraged community members to adopt healthier oral hygiene practices.
