The Mobile Dental Unit (MDU) successfully rendered comprehensive oral health services to school children through an intensive one-month outreach program. The initiative aimed to improve oral health awareness, provide early diagnosis, and deliver basic preventive and curative dental care directly at school premises.
During the program, the MDU team visited multiple schools on a rotational basis, ensuring maximum coverage of children from diverse backgrounds. Each visit included oral health screening, where students were examined for common dental problems such as dental caries, gum diseases, malocclusion, and other oral conditions.
In addition to screening, interactive dental health education sessions were conducted using visual aids and demonstrations. Children were educated on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene, proper brushing techniques, healthy dietary habits, and the prevention of dental diseases. These sessions were designed to be engaging and age-appropriate, encouraging active participation.
Basic treatment services such as oral prophylaxis, fluoride application, and temporary restorations were provided within the mobile unit. Cases requiring advanced care were identified and referred to nearby dental facilities for further management.
Overall, the one-month Mobile Dental Unit initiative significantly contributed to early detection of dental issues, increased awareness, and promotion of preventive oral health practices among school children, reinforcing the importance of accessible community-based dental care.
