The Department of Community Medicine, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital, observed World Health Day 2026 by organizing a Health Mela on 6.4.2026. The event was inaugurated by Dr. R. Mani, Dean, and Dr. Arun Daniel J, Professor & Head. The Health Mela comprised of various stalls including Anthropometry, Life Expectancy, Stress Management, and Healthy Diet for the students and staffs.
Special emphasis was given to Oral Health Assessment and the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. Participants were screened for oral health problems, educated on early warning signs of oral cancer, and counselled on quitting tobacco. Information on the availability and utilization of Tobacco Cessation Centres was provided, and participants were motivated to seek support services, with referrals offered when required.
A total of 110 participants attended and benefited from the interactive health education and counselling.
