NOHP Puducherry - Oral awareness talk program conducted at PHC Nettapakkam for ANC patients

26/03/26 Dental unit, PHC Nettapakkam # WOHD 2026 Celebration @ Well Baby clinic: The mothers were given awareness on child's teeth and oral health from birth and to practice healthy habits to prevent / reduce tooth decay in infants and children. Steps to clean the gum pads after feeding were enunciated. Bad oral behaviours like mouth breathing, thumb sucking, nail biting, lip biting, cheek biting and tongue thrusting were highlighted and its intervention at the earliest were stressed upon for good jaw and tooth development. Insights were given on habit breaking appliance, advantages and disadvantages of oral pacifiers, role of fluoridated tooth paste and regular dental visit. Brushing techniques were demonstrated using dental models and posters. Ill effects of Tobacco and its impact on children were emphasised. Oral hygiene pledge was taken. Oral health pamphlets were distributed to promote good oral behaviours and for future references.
