Special Oral Cancer Screening Camp at Metupalayam Industrial Estate

A special oral cancer screening and dental check-up camp was successfully conducted at the Metupalayam Industrial Estate with the aim of promoting early detection and prevention of oral diseases among industrial workers.

Workers from multiple industries within the estate were actively mobilized to participate in the camp. The initiative focused on identifying early signs of oral cancer, educating workers about risk factors such as tobacco use, and emphasizing the importance of regular dental check-ups.
A team from the Mobile Dental Unit carried out comprehensive oral examinations, screening for suspicious lesions, precancerous conditions using VELSCOPE. Individuals requiring further evaluation or treatment were appropriately referred to higher centers.
 

In addition to screening, awareness sessions were conducted highlighting:
-Early warning signs of oral cancer
-Harmful effects of tobacco and alcohol
-Importance of maintaining oral hygiene
-Preventive measures and lifestyle modifications

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation and served as an important step towards improving occupational health and spreading awareness about oral cancer among industrial workers.
