Report on Dental Camp at Mashaal Initiative Institute of Special Education, Tarbela

Journey to Tarbela

On February 27, 2025, a dental camp was successfully conducted at Mashaal Initiative Institute of Special Education, Tarbela. The event was organized with the participation of 26 dedicated volunteers, all of whom traveled from Peshawar to Tarbela. The journey began at 6:30 AM, and we reached our destination by 9:20 AM, where we were warmly welcomed by the school staff.

Welcoming Ceremony

The event commenced with a heartwarming presentation by the special children, which included Tilawat, Naat, and the national anthem. A documentary about the school was also showcased, highlighting its mission and the efforts made for the welfare of the children.

Oral Hygiene Awareness Session

Following the welcoming ceremony, an engaging oral hygiene awareness session was conducted by our team, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good dental health.

Dental OPD and Activities

After the awareness session, a dental OPD was set up to provide check-ups and consultations. The school had made commendable arrangements for the setup, ensuring a smooth and organized process. The response from the school staff and students was overwhelming, reflecting their appreciation for the initiative. Meanwhile, fun activities such as face painting, as well as the distribution of dental kits and gifts, were carried out to create an enjoyable atmosphere for the children.

Refreshments and Certificate Distribution

Once the OPD concluded, refreshments were provided to the volunteers by the school as a token of appreciation. After a brief break for Namaz, a certificate distribution ceremony was held to acknowledge the efforts of all volunteers.

Conclusion and Feedback

The event officially concluded at 2:00 PM. The feedback from the volunteers was extremely encouraging, with many expressing their enthusiasm and eagerness to participate in future camps. The school administration highly appreciated the contributions of the volunteers and the Pakistan Association of Dental Students (PADS), recognizing their efforts in making the camp a success.

This camp was not just a dental health initiative but a step towards creating a more inclusive and health-conscious society. The overwhelming response from both the school and the volunteers has paved the way for future collaborations and similar outreach programs.
