Oral Health Promotion, Awareness and Building Capacity through National Level Training for Tobacco Cessation

Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS), Delhi, conducted a comprehensive World Oral Health Day-2024 campaign aimed at raising awareness and promoting oral health across Delhi and surrounding areas. The Institute has strived to emerge as an institute of regional and global excellence in the field of dental education, patient care and research. The Mission has always been maintaining leadership role in consistently providing accessible, affordable and comprehensive oral health care services to all with focus on underprivileged.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry has been in the forefront of all community outreach, oral health promotion, preventive dental and health education programs with its team based approaches. National Resource Centre for Oral Health and Tobacco Cessation (NRC-OH-TC) at  Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences conducted two days “National Level Training and Capacity Building of Dental Professionals in Tobacco Cessation” on 22nd and 23rd February 2024. The chief Guest Dr. L.Swasticharan and Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma inaugurated the event with very senior dignitaries and faculty gracing the occasion.

With more than 35 Dental College and State representatives joining the workshop for two days and trained by pioneers in the field Dr. Prabhat Chand, NIMHANS Benguluru and Dr. Sonali Jhanjee, Senior Psychiatrist, AIIMS, New Delhi along Ms. Shinon, Clinical Psychologist, St. Stephen's Hospital and Mr. Praveen Sinha, NPO, WHO India Office and Prof. Dr. Vikrant Mohanty, MAIDS. The event was grand success and all partners agreed to join us further in future training programs. The campaign received widespread coverage across social and news media platforms, amplifying its reach and impact, and contributing to the promotion of oral health awareness on a broader scale.
