The Egyptian Dental Association is a member of FDI World Dental Federation. Between November 2019 and early March 2020, the association sent medical convoys across the country to offer dental treatments as well as medical and oral health awareness sessions.
Oral health convoys
Their project focused specifically on the areas most deprived of dental services. The goals of the project were to provide good oral health for all and raise awareness about the importance of oral health. The convoys distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste, diagnosed and treated a variety of dental problems, provided oral health assessments for athletes, administered blood pressure and blood glucose check-ups, gave medical advice regarding the novel coronavirus, familiarized children with the dental clinic setting, and provided oral health education for schoolchildren and children living in orphanages.
Move to online campaign
Even after the last five convoys had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Egyptian Dental Association continued their project online through different social media channels.
